MONTICELLO – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team concluded the 2013-14 season on Saturday with a 75-64 win over Ouachita Baptist at home in senior Raija McWright's final game as a Cotton Blossom.
The Blossoms (8-18, 4-16 Great American Conference) turned in their second best shooting performance of the season in Saturday's win, knocking down 22-of-39 shots from the field (56.4 percent), while also recording the team's best free throw shooting contest of the year, sinking 26-of-29 charity shots (89.7 percent).
The first half featured six tie scores and four lead changes. UAM led by as much as four points in the first 20 minutes on a layup by sophomore Tamia Grady at the 2:04 mark to put the Blossoms up 33-29. OBU (9-17, 7-13 GAC) led by as much as five points in the first six minutes of the contest.
Following the 11th tie score of the game with 4:43 remaining in the second half, UAM regained the lead for the final time and outscored OBU 15-6 in the remainder of the game, leading by as much 14 points with 1:03 remaining.
Sophomore Jordan Goforth led Blossoms with 19 points on a 7-for-10 shooting performance. Grady finished with 18 points and sophomore Donlicia James added 17 points in her 17 minutes off the bench.
OBU ended the game shooting 39 percent from the field (22-for-57), 30 percent on three-pointers (8-for-27) and 63 percent on foul shots (12-for-19). OBU's Nashia James led all scorers with 21 points.
