MONTICELLO –
Junior Austin Braddock homered twice and seniors Kade Garlington and Jeff Harvill combined for a four-hit shutout as the 28th-ranked University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team won both ends of a Great American Conference double header at home on Friday over 30th-ranked Harding.

UAM (20-10, 10-7 GAC) won the first game 13-3 in seven innings and took game two by a final score of 4-0.

In the first game, Braddock hit the first of his two homeruns with a two-run shot to left field in the bottom of the second inning to open the scoring. Harding (16-11, 8-6 GAC) quickly responded by scoring its three runs in the top of the third to take its first and only lead of the day.

UAM plated four more in the bottom half of the third, highlighted by a two-run double from senior Ray Johnson. That followed an RBI double from senior Ben Agredano in the previous at bat. UAM scored its final run of the inning off a Harding error.

The Weevils pushed across another run in the fourth before finalizing the scoring with four runs in the bottom of the sixth, featuring Braddock's second long ball of the game, this time to left center.

Agredano led the Weevils offense with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate. Braddock and senior Alex Lang also finished with multiple hits.

Junior Logan Johnson (4-2) earned the win in complete-game fashion, giving up three runs off seven hits with five strikeouts and no walks in his seven innings of work. Cameron Walker (2-2) took the loss for HU after giving up eight runs off eight hits in the first five innings.

In the second game, Garlington retired the first 10 Harding batters consecutively, and his teammates built a 3-0 lead through the first three innings. Junior Bronson Gillam drove in Ray Johnson in the second inning to open the scoring. UAM scored two in the third, featuring an RBI double from senior Justin Hollis, who later scored on a wild pitch.

UAM plated its final run off a rundown in the sixth. Senior Chad Miller was the only Weevils with multiple hits in the second game, going 2-for-3

Garlington (6-2) gave up only four hits and struck out two in the first 6.1 innings. Senior Jeff Harvill induced a game-ending double play in the only batter he faced in the seventh. Collin Campbell (4-1) took the loss for the Bisons, giving up four runs off seven hits in the first 5.2 innings.
