PATTON TIES GAC REBOUND RECORD IN LOSS TO ARKANSAS TECH

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas –
Senior D'Audrio Patton tied a Great American Conference single-game record with 19 rebounds in a 76-63 loss to Arkansas Tech on Saturday inside Tucker Coliseum.

Patton finished the game with 12 defensive rebounds and seven offensive rebounds for his total of 19, which was last accomplished in the GAC by Southeastern Oklahoma State's Darius Harris earlier this season. He had 11 more rebounds than the next highest player total in Saturday's game.

The Weevils (3-6, 1-5 GAC) trailed the entire first half and three minutes into the second half before taking its first and only lead of the game on a pair of free throws from junior Jamal Peterson at the 16:50 mark. Those free throws capped an 8-0 run for UAM to start the second half. The Wonder Boys (7-6, 3-2 GAC) answered with a three-pointer on the other end by Clarence Willard for the final lead change of the game.

UAM held the deficit to within four points for the next four minutes before Tech posted a 10-2 run to get on top by double-digits at the 8:24 mark.

A three-pointer from senior Sharif Hudson at the 3:35 mark of the second half trimmed UAM's deficit to six points, but the Wonder Boys finished the game outscoring UAM 9-2 to seal the win.

The Weevils finished the game shooting 36 percent from the field (24-for-66), 19 percent on three-pointers (4-for-21) and 52 percent on foul shots (11-for-21). Tech finished at 42 percent overall (24-for-57), 50 percent on three-pointers (7-for-14) and 72 percent on foul shots (21-for-29).

Peterson led UAM with 14 points, followed by junior Eli Alexander with 11 and Patton with 10. Arkansas Tech's Nick Wayman led all scorers with 17 points.

The Weevils are back in action on Thursday, January 8 on the road against Southeastern Oklahoma State.
