@UAMVOLLEYBALL BEATS HENDERSON STATE ON THE ROAD

ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas — The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team recorded a Great American Conference road victory on Tuesday night by beating Henderson State in four sets.

Final game scores were 25-13, 22-25, 25-20 and 25-14.

The Blossoms (11-17, 2-13 GAC) had lopsided victories in the first and final sets of Tuesday's match. UAM took advantage of its best hitting performance of the match with a .269 percent in the opening set, while also taking advantage of HSU's worst percentage of the night.

The Blossoms used five services aces and eight HSU attack errors in the final set to go up by as much as 10 points at 16-6 following an 8-0 scoring run.

As a team, UAM combined for 45 kills and 22 errors on 142 swings for a .162 percentage, while HSU (4-24, 2-13 GAC) finished with 34 kills and 29 errors on 136 attacks for a .037 percentage.

UAM also combined for 11 total blocks in the win, the third highest total of the season.

Junior Carolina Gasparini picked up her third straight double-double and seventh of the season with 15 kills and a career-high 18 digs in the win over HSU. Sophomore Aubrey Harrison also reached double-digits in kills with 10, while leading UAM with a .320 percentage after only committing two errors on 25 swings.

Defensively, UAM had five players reach double-digits in digs, led by Gasparini with 18. Senior Kaila Kikugawa followed with 15. Junior Alissya Theis and senior Alice Cardona-Otero both had 11. Senior Lani Kaiwi had 10.

Junior Kya Standford led the defensive effort on the front row with seven total blocks. She also had eight kills in the win.

Theis finished with 37 assists for her seventh match of the year with at least 30.

The Blossoms close the 2015 season on Thursday at home against Harding for Senior Day. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
