SOUTHWEST BAPTIST DOWNS @UAMHOOPS 82-66

BOLIVAR, Missouri — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team suffered an 82-66 loss to Southwest Baptist on Saturday in the final game of SBU's conference crossover challenge.

The Bearcats (2-0) ended the night with a 52-20 advantage in rebounding, which ended up leading to 17 second-chance points and the biggest difference in the game.

The Weevils (0-2) led for a period of only 37 seconds early in the first half. SBU regained the lead at the 16:31 mark of the opening half and never trailed throughout the remainder of the game. The Bearcats held their largest lead of the first half at the halftime break (42-27) following an 8-0 run over the final three minutes.

SBU turned that 8-0 run into a 22-0 run by opening the second half on a 14-0 streak to take its largest lead of the game at 56-27 with 15:40 remaining.

UAM finished the game shooting 37 percent from the field (19-for-52) and 73 percent on foul shots (21-for-29). SBU ended at 52 percent from the field (31-for-60) and 69 percent from the free throw line (11-for-16).

Senior Jamal Peterson paced the Weevils with 17 points. Junior Brandon Scott followed with 15 points off the bench, and senior Andre Brown chipped in with 11 points and a team-high five rebounds.

UAM is back in action on Thursday, November 19 on the road against Southeastern Oklahoma State for the first Great American Conference game of the season. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. in Durant.
