SAN ANTONIO, Texas — University of Arkansas at Monticello senior women's basketball player Jordan Goforth moved into 10th place all-time in school history in scoring in an 80-59 loss to St. Mary's on Friday night.
Goforth surpasses both Felicia Crowe (1991-95) and Susan Pemberton (1986-90) on UAM's all-time scoring chart with 21 points in Friday's loss to increase her career total to 1,304. Next on the list is Angela Meadough (1990-92) at No. 9 with 1,414 career points.
After being outscored 19-8 in the first period and 17-12 in the second period, the Blossoms (1-2) matched up with the Rattlers (4-1) in the third at 23-all. STMU won the final 10 minutes 21-16 to come away with the 21-point win.
The Blossoms finished the game shooting 36 percent from the field (21-for-58), 29 percent on three-pointers (6-for-21) and 58 percent on foul shots (11-for-19). St. Mary's shot 48 percent from the field (30-for-62), 45 percent on three-pointers (11-for-24) and 43 percent on foul shots (9-for-21).
In addition to Goforth's team-high 21 points and seven rebounds, sophomore Taylor Collins added eight points while senior Nikki Mullen, freshman Ayesha Wahid, and freshman Braxton Chumley all had six points each.
Dezirae Ellis led St. Mary's with a game-high 23 points.
The Blossoms are back in action on Saturday in the St. Mary's Thanksgiving Classic with a 7:30 p.m. tipoff against Angelo State.
