MONTICELLO — Senior Sydni Schulz turned in her second straight match with at least 20 kills to lead the University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team to a four-set non-conference win over Mississippi Valley State on Friday night inside Steelman Field House.
Schulz finished the match with right at 20 kills on 58 swings with eight errors for a .207 percentage. Junior Carolina Gasparini trailed closely with a double-double of 18 kills and 12 digs. It was her second straight double-double and sixth overall this season.
Final game scores were 25-15, 23-25, 25-16 and 25-17.
The Blossoms (10-17) opened the match with 17 kills and only four errors in the first set for a .433 percentage, but fell to a negative .019 percentage in the second set loss with 12 errors and 11 kills.
UAM improved to a .238 mark in the third set and a .429 mark in the fourth set to seal the win.
Defensive, senior Kaila Kikugawa once again led the Blossoms with 37 digs, recording a new career-high that was set one day earlier in UAM's five-set loss to Ouachita.
Junior Alissya Theis had 50 assists in the win for her second straight match to post at least 50.
The Devilettes (3-27) finished with 31 kills and 19 errors on 133 swings for a .090 percentage.
The Blossoms play their final road game of the 2015 season on Tuesday in Arkadelphia against Henderson State. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
