Box Score (HTML)

ALVA, Oklahoma –
Northwestern Oklahoma State scored six points in the final five seconds to defeat the University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team by a final score of 69-66 on Saturday inside the Percefull Field House.

NWOSU's Jonae Isaac made a layup with five seconds on the clock to trim the Lady Ranger deficit down to one point at 66-65. After a UAM foul and a NWOSU missed free throw, the Blossoms were unable to control the rebound. The UAM bench was assessed a technical foul at that point, allowing NWOSU's Emily Eaton to put the Rangers on top by one with two seconds remaining.

UAM was forced to foul, and Eaton returned to the line to finalize the scoring with the fifth and sixth points of NWOSU's final surge.

The Blossoms (12-11, 10-8 Great American Conference) jumped out to an early lead in the first half, holding a 22-3 advantage at the 12:37 mark. UAM maintained its double-digit lead for most of the remaining 12 minutes in the first half and the first eight minutes of the second half.

NWOSU (10-15, 9-10 GAC) used a 9-0 run at that point to cut UAM's lead down to four points with 11:43 remaining in regulation. UAM stretched out its lead back to as much as nine points with 6:18 remaining in the contest on a pair of free throws from junior Nelsha Peterson.

Junior Jordan Goforth tied a career-high with her second 31-point performance in Saturday's loss. She finished 10-for-23 from the field and 9-for-9 at the free throw line. Junior Courtni Gibson and Peterson also reached double-digits in scoring with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

The Blossoms finished the game shooting 39 percent from the field (20-for-51).

Isaac led the Rangers with 17 points. NWOSU finished the game at 51 percent from the field (25-for-49), including a 17-for-26 shooting performance in the second half. After trailing by 10 at halftime, NWOSU outscored UAM 44-31 in the final 20 minutes.

The Blossoms are back in action on Thursday, February 26 at Southern Arkansas. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. in Magnolia.
