BETHANY, Oklahoma – Junior Richard Benedyth turned in his third straight game with at least 20 points to lead the University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team in a 94-84 loss to Southern Nazarene on the road Thursday night.
Benedyth made 5-of-12 shots from the field, but added 10 points at the foul line, where he finished the game 10-for-11. It was his third straight game with at least 20 points and seventh straight with at least 10 points.
The Weevils (5-13, 2-12 Great American Conference) scored at least 80 points for the seventh time this season in Thursday night's loss, but ultimately were unable to stymie Southern Nazarene's 53 percent shooting performance. SNU (11-9, 7-7 GAC) made 28-of-53 shots and out-rebounded UAM 38-30.
There were a total of 12 lead changes in Thursday's contest with SNU holding the advantage for just under 32 of the 40 total minutes. UAM's largest lead in the game was three with 12:06 remaining in the first half. SNU led by as much as 11 points in the final minute.
In addition to Benedyth, senior Sharif Hudson and junior Korbin McClain also reached double-figures in scoring with 14 and 11 points, respectively.
SNU had five scorers in double-figures, led by Francisco Hukill with 17 points.
The Weevils are back in action on Saturday at East Central. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. in Ada, Oklahoma.
