MCCLAIN'S GAME WINNER SNAPS @UAMHOOPS SKID

ADA, Oklahoma –
University of Arkansas at Monticello junior men's basketball player Korbin McClain made a layup with two seconds remaining in regulation to give the Weevils a 71-70 Great American Conference road victory over East Central at Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Weevils (6-13, 3-12 GAC) snapped a seven-game losing streak.

The Weevils led for just over 31 minutes throughout the game, including the team's largest lead, a 13-point advantage with 9:38 remaining in the first half. That 25-12 lead was the result of a 13-3 scoring run over the previous four minutes.

East Central's Stirling Thomas nailed a three-pointer with 33 seconds remaining in the second half to give the Tigers a 70-69 lead. On the other end, McClain scored off an offensive rebound from a missed three-pointer by junior Eli Alexander.

UAM finished the game at 48 percent shooting (30-for-63). Senior Sharif Hudson turned in his sixth game of at least 20 points with a team-best 21 points in the win over the Tigers. Seniors Cameron Blue and D'Audrio Patton had 11 and 10 points, respectively, while McClain finished with 11 points off the bench.

The Tigers finished at 41 percent from the field (22-for-54). Stirling Thomas led all scorers with 23 points.

The Weevils dominated the boards in Saturday's win by a final margin of 41-28. Blue led the team with eight rebounds.

UAM is back in action on Tuesday at home against Ecclesia College for the team's final non-conference game of the season. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. inside Steelman Field House.
