FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team climbed back above .500 by recording a pair of neutral-site Great American Conference victories over No. 18 Henderson State on Sunday at Fayetteville High School.

The Weevils (9-7, 6-5 GAC) won the first game 5-3 and took the nightcap by a final score of 6-5.
Junior Kevin Fitzpatrick had a breakout day for the Weevils, posting two hits in each win and also having a homerun in each game. He blasted a solo shot in the top of the ninth of game one to finalize the scoring and hit a two-run shot in the top of the fourth inning of game two to open the scoring.
In the first game, the Reddies (12-6, 6-5 GAC) scored first with single runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings before UAM took the lead with three runs in the top of the sixth, featuring a two-run double from junior Corey Wood and an RBI single by junior Nick Cerda.
HSU tied it up in the seventh with one unearned run off a UAM error. The Weevils answered with solo homeruns in the eighth and ninth innings. Wood picked up his third RBI of the game with a round-tripper in the eighth before Fitzpatrick collected his first homerun of the day in the ninth.
Junior Zach McKnight (3-1) earned the win after giving up three runs (two earned) off seven hits with four strikeouts in the first seven innings. Senior Jeff Harvill earned his third save of the season by retiring the last two batters of the game, including a called strikeout for the final out.
In the seven-inning game, the Weevils struck first in the top of the fourth with Fitzpatrick's two-run homerun. UAM added four more runs in the top half of the sixth, highlighted by a three-run homerun from junior Travis Steinke.
The Reddies made it interesting in the bottom of the seventh with five runs off four hits, two walks and two hit batters. True freshman Dawson Moser was called in from the bullpen to put out the fire on the HSU rally and did so with back-to-back called strikeouts to end the game. It was his first save of the season.
Senior Austin Braddock (4-1) earned the win after keeping the 18th-ranked Reddies scoreless on just three hits in the first six innings.
The Weevils return to action next weekend at home against Ouachita Baptist.
