MAGNUSSON LEADS @UAMGOLF AT NATURAL STATE CLASSIC

HEBER SPRINGS, Arkansas –
University of Arkansas at Monticello junior men's golfer Ari Magnusson finished at one over par to lead the Weevils at the Natural State Classic played this past Monday and Tuesday at Red Apple Inn and Country Club.

Magnusson shot a one-under 70 during Monday's first round and turned in a 73 on Tuesday to finish at 143 overall and tied for 13th place out of 54 participants.

Junior Theodor Karlsson tied for 24th (75, 73), junior Billie Trawick tied for 30th (74, 76) junior Hunter Smith tied for 33rd (76, 75) and sophomore Bryan Witmer finished in 46th (79, 78).

As a team, the Weevils finished sixth out of nine with a two-round combined total of 592, just two strokes behind fifth place finisher and the host team Harding.

Henderson State was the top team in the event with a combined total of 549, 11 strokes ahead of second place Southern Nazarene. HSU's Drew Greenwood dropped six strokes off his first round score to shoot a 64 in the second, good enough for first place by one stroke over SNU's Michael Hearne.

The Weevils wrap up the 2014-15 season Sunday-Tuesday, April 19-21 at the Great American Conference Championship Tournament at the Hot Springs Country Club.
