MONTICELLO — Southern Arkansas posted a team hitting percentage of .402 and had three players with at least 10 kills to beat the University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team in three sets on Tuesday night inside Steelman Field House.
Final scores were 25-12, 25-21 and 25-10.
The Blossoms (6-5, 1-3 Great American Conference) finished the match with 23 kills and 14 errors on 112 attempts for a .080 percentage. The Lady Muleriders (7-7, 2-2 GAC) answered with 47 kills and just eight errors on 97 attempts for its .402 percentage.
Junior Kya Standford paced the Blossoms with six kills and three blocks. Senior Sydni Schulz followed with five kills and a team-high nine digs.
Tuesday's match against SAU was UAM's Ovarian Cancer Awareness Night. The Blossoms sold T-shirts and accepted donations with all proceeds benefiting the Meme Brown Fight Like a Girl Scholarship Fund. Donations are still welcome, and can be handled through the UAM volleyball office.
The Blossoms are back in action this weekend for three matches, starting first with a GAC match at Arkansas Tech on Friday night followed by a tri-match in Joplin, Missouri against Missouri Southern and Washburn. Links to live coverage can be found at
