Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

@UAMWBB POSTS 30 ASSISTS IN FIFTH STRAIGHT WIN

MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team recorded 30 assists for the first time since 1992 to highlight a 94-63 non-conference win over Crowley's Ridge on Saturday inside Steelman Field House.

The final assist total was three off the UAM and Great American Conference single-game record. Saturday's win was UAM's fifth consecutive victory of the season to improve the Blossoms to 6-2 overall this year.

The Blossoms never trailed in Saturday's win despite CRC's second period rally to erase a 13-point deficit and tie the score at 33-all with 1:59 remaining before halftime. The Blossoms used a three-pointer from senior Nikki Mullen and a pair of free throws from sophomore Cheridan Burroughs in the final two minutes to hold a 38-33 advantage at the break.

UAM outscored the Lady Pioneers (5-11) 56-30 in the third and fourth periods to record the lopsided victory.

True freshman Ayesha Wahid posted a career-high 26 points in the contest to mark the first time someone other than senior Jordan Goforth led UAM in scoring this season. Wahid finished the game 11-for-14 from the field.

Goforth finished with a double-double of 22 points and 10 assists. Burroughs and Mullen also reached double-digits in scoring with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Burroughs led UAM on the boards with eight rebounds.

As a team, the Blossoms ended the game at 55 percent from the field (37-for-67), 53 percent on three-pointers (8-for-15) and 75 percent on foul shots (12-for-16). The Lady Pioneers shot 38 percent from the field (23-for-60), 43 percent on three-pointers (9-for-21) and 73 percent on foul shots (8-for-11).

The Blossoms are back to Great American Conference games next week, traveling to Southern Nazarene on Thursday, January 7 and to Oklahoma Baptist the following Saturday.
