ST. JOSEPH, MO. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's golf team placed eighth overall in the Holiday Inn Express Classic this past Monday and Tuesday, played at the St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Missouri hosted by Missouri Western State.
Freshman Wilson Powell led the Weevils by finishing in a tie for 12th place overall out of 100 total participants and ended the final day with an overall score of 219 (74-75-70).
Sophomore Kinley Lee (73-75-75) finished shooting a 223 and placed in a tie for 19th, while freshman Stephane Perrin (77-79-77) ended the two-day tournament with a score of 233 and tied for 55th overall. Junior Tyler Thackerson (75-80-79) shot a 234 and went on to place in a tie for 59th place and finally senior Bryan Witmer (81-77-77) rounded out the UAM field as he posted a total score of 235 and tied for 66th place.
Central Missouri was the number one team in the event out of 20 total teams, with a three-round score of 872, followed by a tie between Arkansas Tech and Southwestern Oklahoma State for second with scores of 876.
