HOT SPRINGS, ARK. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's golf team finished sixth overall in the Henderson State Invitational this past Monday and Tuesday, played at the Hot Springs Country Club in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Sophomore Kinley Lee led the Weevils by finishing in a tie for third place out of 69 total participants. Lee completed the day with an overall score of 213 (74-70-69). His final round score of 69 was not only tied for second best throughout the invitational, but also tied his collegiate best since joining the Weevil golf team.
Freshman Wilson Powell (76-79-71) finished shooting a 226 and placed in a tie for 27th, while fellow freshman Joseph Lemieux (80-75-75) turned in a total score of 230 for a 40th place finish. Tyler Thackerson (79-77-75) was not far behind as he shot 231 and went on to place 41st overall. Freshman Jacobo Santacoloma (79-76-78) rounded out the UAM field as he posted an overall score of 233 and tied for 44th place.
Arkansas Tech University was the number one team in the event out of 11 total teams, with a three-round score of 873, followed by Southwestern Oklahoma State at 877 and Henderson State at 881.
The Weevils are back in action next on Monday and Tuesday, October 10-11 at the Holiday Inn Express Classic in St. Joseph, Missouri at the St. Joseph Country Club hosted by Missouri Western State.
