@UAMVOLLEYBALL SWEEPS AT CBU TRI-MATCH

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team recorded two victories Tuesday evening during the Christian Brothers University Tri-Match. The Blossoms began the evening with a three-set win over Central Baptist College and ended the night with a five-set victory over Christian Brothers University. 

In the first match against Central Baptist College (3-11), the Blossoms (5-12) finished the match-up with 45 kills on 99 total attacks and a team hitting percentage of .364 overall.

Vanessa Pawlak led the offensive attack for UAM with nine total kills on 15 swings for a match-high hitting percentage .533. Aubrey Harrison and Maggie Pyles each added seven kills of their own as well. Macy Mitchell tallied a team-high 11 digs in the match-up and two service aces. Kendall Vondra led the Blossoms in total assists in the match with 39 overall. 

The final game scores in the win over CBC were 25-12, 25-11, and 22-14.

During the second match-up against Christian Brothers University (9-6), Arkansas-Monticello finished the night with 58 kills on 145 total attacks for a .248 hitting percentage, compared to Christian Brothers who totaled 58 kills as well on 158 swings for a .196 percentage. 

Leading the offensive attack in this contest was Shay Mitchell who tallied a career best at UAM with 19 kills and a .325 hitting percentage. Macy Mitchell totaled a career best 23 digs in this match-up as well and Kendall Vondra recorded a career best 51 assists in the match-up. 

Kya Standford and Maggie Pyles each totaled 12 kills to aid the Blossom offense and Carolina Gasparini posted a solid stat-line to end the evening with 10 kills and 10 digs. 

The final game scores in the victory over Christian Brothers were 25-23, 20-25, 21-25, 25-20 and 15-12.

The Blossoms will be back in action next on Friday, October 7 as they will host Great American Conference opponent Southwestern Oklahoma State inside Steelman Field House with first serve set for 6 p.m.
