@UAMVOLLEYBALL SWEEPS NWOSU AT HOME

MONTICELLO - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team defeated Great American Conference opponent Northwestern Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon with a three-set win over the Rangers at home.

Final game scores from the match were 25-21, 25-23, and 25-17. 

Arkansas-Monticello (7-12, 3-4 GAC) continued its strong play Saturday as the Blossoms created a 4-0 run early on in set number one and put together a 5-0 run late in the set to take down Northwestern Oklahoma State (2-18, 1-6 GAC) to open the match. UAM dominated down the stretch of set two with a 6-1 run to win the set at 25-23 after strong offensive play by Carolina Gasparini and Shay Mitchell. The Blossoms found success in the third and final set as UAM went on runs of 5-1, 6-2 and 7-3 to close out the set at 25-17, in the Blossoms favor to take the match. 

As a team Arkansas-Monticello complied 46 total kills on 110 attempts for a .327 hitting percentage, compared to the Rangers who finished the match-up with 30 overall kills on 104 swings for a .173 percentage. 

Junior Shay Mitchell led the UAM offensive attack during the contest with 16 kills on 30 total attempts for a career-high hitting percentage of .433. Senior Carolina Gasparini recorded a double digit stat-line with 15 kills and 10 digs in the match, and finished with a hitting percentage of .382. 

Freshman Kendall Vondra turned in a solid stat-line on the day with 38 total assists and 10 digs in the match-up. Senior Kya Standford provided a solid defensive front with two block assists and two solo blocks in the contest as well. 

UAM will hit the court next on Friday, October 14 against the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist in a GAC match-up on the road in Shawnee, Oklahoma with first serve scheduled for 7 p.m.
