ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team fell to Great American Conference opponent Ouachita Baptist University Thursday evening on the road in a four-set match.
Final game scores from the match were 25-23, 23-25, 25-22, and 25-15 in favor of the Tigers.
Arkansas-Monticello (11-15, 7-7 GAC) fought back in this match-up after dropping set number one to Ouachita Baptist (20-6, 10-4 GAC), won set two over the Tigers 25-23, after scoring three straight points to claim the set. OBU however went on to defeat the Blossoms in the following two sets with set three being closely contested, and Ouachita riding the momentum into set four to claim victory in the match.
Freshman Maggie Pyles recorded a match-high 15 kills on the night on 41 attempts for a hitting percentage of .244. Senior Carolina Gasparini also finished with double digit kills in the contest with 11 overall and added 15 digs to her stat-line.
Junior Macy Mitchell tallied 28 digs in the match-up to lead Arkansas-Monticello on the defensive side of the ball, and senior Kya Standford provided five block assists and two solo blocks for seven total blocks in the match-up.
Freshman setter Kendall Vondra totaled a match-high 42 assists and racked up 12 digs also on the evening.
The Blossoms hit the court next on Tuesday, November 8 as UAM will host the Reddies of Henderson State inside Steelman Field House as this match will be the final home contest of the 2016 season for the Blossoms and will also be senior night with a scheduled time of 6 p.m.
