ALVA, OK — The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team was downed in the second game of its Oklahoma road trip by Great American Conference opponent Northwestern Oklahoma State by a final score of 69-55.
The Blossoms (3-3, 1-3 GAC) held a 32-28 lead over the Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma (3-5, 2-2 GAC) after the first half of play with UAM and NWOSU trading lead changes and ties throughout. The second half saw Northwestern take control of the match-up, outscoring Arkansas-Monticello 41-23 and went on to claim the victory at 69-55 overall.
Final team statistics on the night for UAM included shooting 32 percent from the field (22-for-69), 24 percent on three-pointers (8-for-33) and 50 percent on free throws (3-for-6). The Rangers ended the match-up at 36 percent from the field (21-for-59), 27 percent on three's (4-for-15) and 89 percent on foul shots (23-for-26).
Arkansas-Monticello was led offensively by junior Taylor Collins who totaled 17 points in the contest on 6-for-13 shooting. Also in double-figures in the game was junior Treasure Evans with 14 points and senior Nelsha Peterson with 10 overall. Evans also recorded her first double-double of the season by grabbing 10 total rebounds in the game as well.
Sophomore Mia Hayes led the Blossoms in total assists with seven overall and Peterson and Evans each recorded one block apiece in the match-up also.
The Blossoms will return to action next on Monday, December 5 as UAM will host non-conference opponent Lindenwood University inside Steelman Field House with tip-off scheduled for 3 p.m.
