@UAMHOOPS WRAP ROAD SWING WITH LOSS TO OUACHITA

ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas – The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team lost to league-leading Ouachita Baptist by a final score of 76-59 on Thursday night in the Weevils' final road game of the regular season.

With Ouachita (15-10, 15-5 Great American Conference) holding its largest lead of the first half of nine points at the 7:11 mark, the Weevils (7-18, 5-14 GAC) responded with a 9-0 run to wipe the slate clean. The Tigers went on to outscore UAM 11-5 in the final four minutes to hold a 33-27 lead at the break.

To start the second half, the Tigers made seven of their first eight shots and outscored UAM 17-6 in the first five minutes to grab a double-digit lead, which was maintained throughout the remainder of regulation.

The Weevils made good on eight free throw attempts during a stretch of nearly five minutes to trim the deficit down to 14 with 9:39 remaining. The Tigers later pulled away with an 8-0 run to put themselves up 21 with 5:32 remaining.


UAM finished the game shooting 30 percent from the field (16-for-53), 14 percent on three-pointers (3-for-21) and 71 percent on foul shots (24-for-34). Seniors Richard Benedyth and Evan Sims led the Weevils with 13 points each. Junior Vicktor Arnick added 11 points.

Ouachita shot 51 percent overall (29-for-57), and was led by Tirrell Brown's double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds.

The Weevils are at home for their final three games of the regular season, starting this Saturday against Arkansas Tech. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. at Steelman Field House.
