Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

@UAMHOOPS OPENS HOME STAND WITH LOSS TO TECH

MONTICELLO – The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team opened a three-game home stand to end the 2016 season with a 76-69 loss to Arkansas Tech on Saturday inside Steelman Field House.

The Weevils (7-19, 5-15 Great American Conference) jumped out to an 8-4 lead in the first six minutes, but lost that lead on a 7-0 run by the Wonder Boys that put Tech up 11-8 at the 14:20 mark.

UAM forced one more tie score at 13-13 two minutes later, but the Wonder Boys (15-11, 10-10 GAC) never relinquished the lead from that point, holding as much as a 10-point lead in the first half and a lead as big as 23 in the second half.

The Weevils shrunk that 23-point deficit down to nine with 11 seconds remaining, but time ran out on UAM's 14-4 scoring run to end the game.

UAM finished the game shooting 44 percent from the field (26-for-59), 26 percent on three-pointers (6-for-23) and 73 percent on foul shots (11-for-15). The Weevils had four double-digit scorers, led by senior Andre Brown with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Tech finished at 45 percent overall (29-for-65), 38 percent on treys (11-for-29) and 58 percent on foul shots (7-for-12). ATU's Tyler Corley led all scorers with 18 points.

The Weevils are back in action on Thursday, February 25 at home against Southern Nazarene. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
