Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

MULLEN POWERS @UAMWBB IN SENIOR DAY WIN

MONTICELLO – Nikki Mullen had a career high eight three-pointers and 30 points to lead the University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team to an 83-62 win over Oklahoma Baptist on Senior Day.

Mullen finished 8-for-12 from distance, 9-for-16 overall and 4-for-5 at the free throw line to account for her 30 points, the first 30-point game in her four-year career at UAM.

The Blossoms (13-13, 10-12 GAC) never trailed on Saturday against the Bison (14-14, 12-10 GAC), despite OBU forcing the game's only tie score at 30-all late in the second period. That tie score came after UAM built an 11-point lead early in the second period on a three-pointer from sophomore Taylor Collins and on the next possession on a jumper from senior Jordan Goforth.

UAM closed the second period on an 8-1 scoring run to hold a 41-33 lead at the break.

The Blossoms regained a double-digit lead on the first possession of the third period on a three-pointer by Mullen, and ended up outscoring the Bison 23-12 in the period. UAM maintained at least a 17-point lead throughout the final 10 minutes, and held its largest lead of 24 on a pair of free throws by junior Vivanna Carter in the final minute of regulation.

UAM finished the game shooting 44 percent from the field (25-for-57), 43 percent on three-pointers (12-for-28) and 81 percent on foul shots (21-for-26). In addition to Mullen's game-high 30 points, three other Blossoms scored in double-figures. Goforth added 16 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Mia Hayes scored 15. Collins ended with 11.

Junior Tori Nichols grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds in the win. The Blossoms held a 46-32 overall edge in rebounding.

UAM is the No. 8 seed in next week's GAC Championship Tournament in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The Blossoms will face regular-season champion Arkansas Tech in the opening round on Friday, March 4 at 5:45 p.m.
