TOP FOUR LINEUP SPOTS POWER @WEEVILSBASEBALL TO 5TH STRAIGHT WIN

SEARCY, Arkansas — The 25th-ranked University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team picked up its fifth straight victory on Tuesday in a 5-2 non-conference road win over Harding.

The first four spots in the UAM lineup accounted for all but two of the team's 11 hits in the victory. Senior Evan Comeau went 3-for-5, senior Kevin Fitzpatrick went 2-for-5, senior Corey Wood went 2-for-4 and senior Travis Steinke went 2-for-5.

Wood opened the scoring in the top of the first inning by driving in Comeau on a single to right field. Comeau led off the game with a double down the right field line.

In the third, UAM (27-11) plated three more runs on back-to-back run producing at bats from Wood and Steinke. Wood singled in junior Nick Piraino, who singled earlier in the inning. Steinke followed up with a two-run single to left field. The Weevils had five consecutive singles during the third-inning rally.

UAM's final run came on a bases-loaded infield single from junior Guy Halbert in the top of the fifth inning to drive in Steinke, who had a two-out double down the left field line earlier in the frame.

Harding (20-23) limited UAM to just three base runners in the final four innings. The Bisons' scoring came on a solo home run from Grant Guest in the bottom of the second and one run in the eighth taking advantage of a UAM error.

Junior Kris Brown (2-1) earned the win after surrendering just one run off two hits in the first six innings. Sophomore Dawson Moser picked up his eighth save of the year after keeping Harding scoreless in the ninth.

The Weevils are back in action this weekend in the team's final road trip of the regular season, a three-game GAC series in Durant, Oklahoma against Southeastern Oklahoma State. More information about that series will be released on Thursday.
