FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida - Juniors Shay Mitchell and Aubrey Harrison led the Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team on the offensive side of the ball in the second match-up of the day for UAM as each totaled a team high 10 kills.
Mitchell added a team high hitting percentage of .625 on 16 attempts in the match along with three digs and one service ace. Harrison contributed two service aces and a hitting percentage of .286 on 21 swings. Carolina Gasparini followed with nine kills of her own and led the Blossoms on the defensive side of the ball with 11 digs as well. Kendall Vondra led UAM in the assists column also with 23 total.
The final game scores in tonight's loss to NSU (2-0) were 25-17, 25-22, 22-25 and 25-15. The Blossoms (0-2) will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, September 3rd against non-conference opponents Lynn University and Saint Leo at 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM respectively. Nova Southeastern controlled set number one as they found ways to go on multiple point runs throughout the set. UAM battled back in set two but the Sharks were able to get out to a 2-0 lead in the contest.
Arkansas-Monticello fought back from being down in set number three and was able to pick up momentum towards the end of the set, going on a 7-4 run with kills from Mitchell and Harrison to win the it 25-22.
The home team came out firing in set four against the Blossoms however and sealed the 3-1 match victory off with a 10 point set win at 25-15.
