MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team was taken down by Great American Conference opponent Harding University Thursday evening by a final score of 70-53 inside Steelman Field House.
The Blossoms (5-6, 2-5 GAC) despite leading the visiting Bisons of Harding (10-2, 7-0 GAC) at the half, 29-27, UAM struggled against HU in the second half of play. Harding held Arkansas-Monticello to 10 points in the third quarter and continued its high tempo offensive attack to ultimately seal the win over UAM by a final score of 70-53.
Junior Treasure Evans led the Blossoms offensively with 12 total points on 4-for-11 shooting from the field. Evans also led UAM in overall rebounds with seven and added two assists and one steal to her overall stat-line.
Junior Taylor Collins and sophomore Ayesha Wahid each contributed eight points a piece to the offensive effort as well.
Final team statistics in the game for UAM included shooting 32 percent from the field (17-for-53), 29 percent beyond the arc (4-for-14) and 71 percent on foul shots (15-for-21). The Bisons ended the match-up at 45 percent from the field (25-for-56), 21 percent on three-pointers (4-for-19) and 76 percent from the free throw line (16-for-21).
UAM will hit the court next this Saturday, January 14 as the Blossoms travel to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to take on GAC opponent Henderson State with tip-off set for 1 p.m.
