@UAMWBB DEFEATED ON THE ROAD BY EAST CENTRAL

Ada, Okla. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team was taken down by Great American Conference opponent East Central University Thursday night by a final score of 67-60.

UAM (7-9, 4-8 GAC) controlled the pace of the opening half against the Tigers of East Central (5-11, 4-8 GAC) as the Blossoms led 25-13 against the host squad. Arkansas-Monticello outshot ECU overall but complied 22 turnovers compared to East Central's 18, which proved costly down the stretch of this match-up. The Tigers were able to hold down a lead from late in the third quarter until the end of the contest, beating UAM 67-60.

Offensivly the Blossoms were guided by sophomore Ayesha Wahid with 18 points on 7-for-18 shooting from the field. Wahid was also able to pull down three total rebounds in the match-up as well.

Junior Treasure Evans and senior Nelsha Peterson each totaled double figures with Evans scoring 15 points and Peterson contributing 12 overall. Peterson also led UAM in total rebounds with seven. Brittnee Broadway led Arkansas-Monticello in the assists stat column with six total in the game. 

Final team statistics for UAM on the night included shooting 44 percent (22-for-50) from the field, 33 percent (6-for-18) on three pointers, and 77 percent (10-for-13) from the free throw line. ECU finished the match-up shooting 37 percent (19-for-51) overall, 40 percent on three's (10-for-25), and 76 percent (19-for-25) from the charity stripe. 

The Blossoms return to action next this Saturday, January 28 as UAM will visit GAC opponent Southeastern Oklahoma State in Durant, Oklahoma with tip-off slated for 1 p.m.
