Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

@UAMWBB BOUNCES BISON IN HOME VICTORY

MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team took down Great American Conference opponent Oklahoma Baptist Saturday afternoon in overtime by a final score of 89-86 inside Steelman Field House.

The Blossoms (5-5, 2-4 GAC) held a slim 37-34 lead at the half over the visiting Bison of Oklahoma Baptist (4-8, 1-5 GAC) and the match-up continued to be just as close throughout the following two quarters. OKB found ways to inch closer to the UAM lead, as this game overall featured 14 ties and 16 lead changes between the two programs. A Taylor Collins three-pointer began the overtime period and Arkansas-Monticello went on to hold a lead over the visiting Bison for the remainder of the contest as an additional three by Brittnee Broadway and made free-throws down the stretch sealed the UAM victory at 89-86. 

Arkansas-Monticello saw five total Blossoms finish in double digit scoring as the home squad was led by junior Brittnee Broadway with a career-high 19 points. Senior Nelsha Peterson added 18 points of her own, with sophomore Ayesha Wahid totaling 16 points in the game. Mia Hayes and Treasure Evans each recorded 11 points in the winning effort as well. 
 
Evans went on to lead UAM in overall rebounding with nine total boards and Hayes dished out eight total assists on the day also. 

Final team statistics on the night for the Blossoms included shooting 50 percent from the field (31-for-62), 38 percent on three-pointers (9-for-24) and 72 percent on free throws (18-for-25). The Bison finished the game at 44 percent from the field (32-for-73), 29 percent beyond the arc (8-for-28) and 67 percent on foul shots (14-for-21).

UAM will be back in action next on Thursday, January 12 in a GAC match-up against the Bisons of Harding University inside Steelman Field House with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
