@UAMVOLLEYBALL FALLS TO CRIMSON STORM AT HOME

MONTICELLO -  The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team was defeated by the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene Friday evening by a final score of 3-0 in favor of SNU.

  • Final set scores from the match were 22-25, 23-25, and 17-25 in favor of the Crimson Storm. 
  • UAM drops to 7-13 (1-7 GAC) on the year. 
  • SNU improves to 10-10 (5-3 GAC) this season.

  • The opening set of this contest saw each team fighting for an advantage after four straight points in favor of UAM early on, from SNU errors and points earned by Aubrey Harrison.
  • The Crimson Storm saw its biggest run of the set late, as SNU totaled six consecutive points to jump out to a 20-10 lead, and was able to take set number one 25-22, despite a late 4-0 run from UAM.

  • Arkansas-Monticello once again saw an early lead fade away in this match, after holding a 7-5 advantage over the Crimson Storm, the Blossoms could not stop SNU from creating a 5-1 run and taking a 9-7 lead. 
  • Southern Nazarene went on to hold that lead for the remainder of the second set, although UAM would inch closer to tying it up, however SNU won set two at 25-23 and took a 2-0 match lead.

  • UAM built a 13-11 lead midway through the third set of play, after four consecutive points by Maggie Pyles and SNU errors gave the Blossoms the advantage. 
  • The Crimson Storm however created an 11-0 run to not only reclaim the lead from Arkansas-Monticello, but went on to seal the set off at 25-17, and take the match at 3-0 overall.

  • Sophomore Maggie Pyles led the offensive attack on the day with 10 overall kills on 34 attempts. 
  • Senior Aubrey Harrison added nine kills as well, along with two service aces, and two blocks for the Blossoms. 
  • Freshman Toryn Cox contributed 17 assists in the match, and tallied six digs also. 
  • Senior Macy Mitchell once again recorded over 20 digs in a contest for the second straight match, with 21 on the evening.

  • Arkansas-Monticello returns to action tomorrow, Saturday, October 14, as the Blossoms will host Oklahoma Baptist in a GAC match-up inside Steelman Field House in Monticello, with first serve slated for 1:00 p.m.
