@UAMVOLLEYBALL STUMBLES ON THE ROAD AGAINST RANGERS

Alva, Okla. -  The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team was defeated by the Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State Friday evening on the road by a final score of 3-0.

  • Final set scores from the match were 27-29, 21-25, and 9-25 in favor of the Rangers. 
  • Blossoms fall to 7-11 (1-5 GAC) this year. 
  • Northwestern improves to 14-5 (4-1 GAC) in 2017.

  • The Blossoms were able to hold a 9-6 lead early on in the opening set after back-to-back service aces by Kendall Vondra. 
  • The two programs went back-and-forth throughout the remainder of the set, with the Rangers able to create separation after two straight kills for the 29-27 set win.

  • Northwestern was able to generate multiple runs throughout the second set of play, first leading the Blossoms 10-5 early on, and the Rangers capped off the scoring with a 6-2 run to win the set, 25-21.

  • The final set in this match-up saw NWOSU come out on top, holding a lead through the entire set, and was able to take it 25-9, and sweeping the match at 3-0 over the Blossoms.

  • Maggie Pyles anchored the UAM offensive attack with 12 total kill on the night. 
  • Macy Mitchell led the squad in overall digs with 13, and she totaled one service ace. 
  • Kendall Vondra led in total assists in the contest with 18 overall as well.

  • The Blossoms are back in action tomorrow, Saturday, October 7, as UAM will travel to Weatherford, Oklahoma to take on the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State with first serve set for 1:00 p.m.
