Shawnee, Okla. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team defeated the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist to begin GAC play Thursday night on the road, by a final score of 97-84. 

 

• #23 UAM improves to 3-0 (1-0 GAC) overall in 2017.
• OBU falls to 1-2 (0-1 GAC) on the season. 
   

• Karim Mawuenyega:  27 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists
• Tyrin Jones:  22 points, 5 assists
• Cobe Goosby:  15 points, 7 rebounds
• Derylton Hill:  14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists

 

• The Weevils jumped out to an 8-0 lead to start the match-up on the road against the Bison with points from Tyrin Jones, Derylton Hill, and Cobe Goosby.
• UAM continued to dominate the opening half, holding a lead throughout its entirety. Arkansas-Monticello capped off the half after a Troy Thomas layup  to see the Weevils hold a 51-39 advantage. 
   
   

• UAM never trailed in this GAC match-up, and saw its largest lead with 12:31 left in the ball-game at 25 points (74-49).
• Oklahoma Baptist was able to cut the Arkansas-Monticello lead down to just eight points with under a minute remaining, but the Weevils were able to hold on and pick-up the third straight victory on the year. 
• Jones, Mawuenyega, and Hill each finished in double scoring figures in the second half alone to aid in the offensive attack. 
  
   

• UAM will hit the court next on Saturday, November 18 against the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene in a GAC match-up in Bethany, Oklahoma with tip-off set for 3:00 p.m.
