MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team fell to #9 Arkansas-Fort Smith Saturday afternoon, by a final score of 90-84. 

 

• UAM falls to 7-3 overall on the year. 
• UAFS jumps to 13-0 this season. 
  
   

• Derylton Hill:  22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals
• Karim Mawuenyega:  21 points, 4 rebounds
• Cobe Goosby:  18 points, 11 assists, 7 rebounds
• Tyrin Jones: 14 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists
  
   

• This match-up saw a back-and-forth battle between these in-region competitors as UAM went on to hold a 22-21 lead midway through the half after a Keelin Jackson made three-pointer.
• Arkansas-Fort Smith began to surge ahead of UAM with just over five minutes left and went on to hold a double-digit lead by halftime at 50-37.
• Goosby led the Weevil offense with 10 points total, along with five assists and two steals.
  
   

• The Weevils began to generate its comeback early in the second half, cutting the lead to just three points at 52-49 after a Hill layup. 
• UAFS fired back and jumped out to a double-digit lead with just over five minutes left in the game at 79-69, but UAM would come as close as trailing by one point at 1:20 remaining in the ballgame.
• The Lions went on to seal the game after a made jumper with 51 seconds to go, and forcing a Weevil turnover to take the victory over UAM at 90-84 by the final buzzer. 
  
   

• The Weevils return to action next on Thursday, January 4 in a GAC match-up against Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford, Oklahoma with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
