WEATHERFORD, Okla. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team took down Southwestern Oklahoma State on the road Thursday night, 82-73.

 

• The Weevils jump to 8-3 (3-2 GAC) overall this year. 
• SWOSU falls to 3-8 (1-4 GAC) on the season. 
  
   

• Derylton Hill:  22 points, 5 steals
• Cobe Goosby:  21 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists
• Karim Mawuenyega:  16 points, 4 assists
• Tyrin Jones: 16 points, 6 rebounds
  
   

• UAM surged ahead of the Bulldogs to open the game on a 12-2 run with points from Mawuenyega, and Hill to lead the match-up.
• Arkansas-Monticello continued to dominate the first half midway through with a 28-10 lead after a Jamil Maddred layup in the paint. 
• The Weevils capped off its scoring with a Goosby layup to end the half at 44-28 on the road. 
  
   

• SWOSU began generating a comeback midway through the second half of play, cutting the UAM lead down to just 61-53. 
• Southwestern continued to close the gap with just under three minutes left in the ballgame, trailing the Weevils by just three points.
• Arkansas-Monticello was able to hang on for the victory on the road at 82-73 over SWOSU after a Mawuenyega made three-pointer, and multiple made free-throws. 
  
   

• Arkansas-Monticello returns to action next on Saturday, January 6 as the Weevils travel to Alva, Oklahoma to face Northwestern Oklahoma State with tip-off set for 3:00 p.m.
