ALVA, Okla. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team was defeated by the Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon, 83-78. 

 

• UAM drops to 8-4 (3-3 GAC) overall on the year. 
• The Rangers jump to 9-2 (5-1 GAC) this season. 
  
   

• Derylton Hill:  26 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists
• Tyrin Jones:  19 points, 2 rebounds
• Karim Mawuenyega:  11 points, 4 assists
• Jamil Maddred: 10 points, 3 rebounds
  
   

• The Weevils began this match-up in control after a Derylton Hill layup gave UAM the 10-6 advantage early in the opening half. 
• Hill continued to be a thriving source of offense after knocking down a three-pointer to put the Arkansas-Monticello lead at 21-13, with over seven minutes to go in the first half.
• Northwestern began to gain a surge of momentum to finish off the first half, taking a lead over the Weevils at 39-35. 
  
   

• Arkansas-Monticello reclaimed the lead early into the second half on a Tyrin Jones layup to put the score at 50-49 in favor of UAM. 
• This contest would feature a back-and-forth battle for the remainder of the second half as NWOSU once again saw the lead with just over five minutes in the game at 73-71. 
• UAM unfortunately could not recover as the Weevils ultimately fell to the Rangers 83-78 by the final buzzer. 
  
   

• The Weevils return to action next on Thursday, January 11 as UAM faces Ouachita Baptist on the road in Arkadelphia, Arkansas with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m.
