@UAMHOOPS DOWNED IN ARKADELPHIA BY OBU

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team was taken down by GAC foe Ouachita Baptist Thursday night by a final score of 82-78.

  • The Weevils fall to 8-5 (3-4 GAC) this year. 
  • OBU jumps to 6-7 (3-4 GAC) on the season.

  • Derylton Hill:  20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks
  • Cobe Goosby:  13 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists
  • Keelin Jackson:  12 points, 4 rebounds

  • Arkansas-Monticello controlled much of the pace of this match-up early in the opening half, holding slim leads throughout with offensive power coming from both Hill and Goosby. 
  • Ouachita however began to mount its attack late in the half, claiming the lead with just 5:00 minutes to go, and would not let up to hold the 33-29 advantage by halftime. 
  • Goosby stuffed the stat sheet in this first half, totaling eight points, six rebounds, 2 assists, and one steal.

  • OBU gained momentum as the second half played on, leading UAM by as much as 16 points with just under seven minutes left in regulation at 66-50.
  • UAM would mount a massive comeback however, cutting that lead down to just two points with 2:26 left in the ballgame after two made Tyrin Jones free throws. 
  • The Tigers unfortunately were able to hang on and defeat the Weevils by the final buzzer at 82-78.
  • UAM posted an impressive 46 free throw attempts in this match-up, as the Weevils continued to attack the basket throughout this game. Ouachita tallied 29 attempted foul shots in the contest as well.

  • UAM will hit the court next this Saturday, January 13 against GAC opponent Henderson State in Monticello, inside Steelman Field House with tip-off slated for 4 p.m.
