Cleveland, Miss. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team took down non-conference opponent Delta State on the road Saturday evening, 72-56.

 

• The Weevils jump to 7-2 overall on the year. 
• DSU falls to 3-6 this season. 
  
   

• Tyrin Jones:  22 points, 2 assists, 1 steal
• Derylton Hill:  11 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals
• Karim Mawuenyega:  11 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists
  
   

• This non-conference match-up was closely contested to open up the first half of play, until a pair of made three-pointers from Keelin Jackson, and a fast-break layup from Mawuenyega saw UAM out to a 20-13 lead with 09:29 remaining. 
• The Weevils continued to create a run over the Statesmen to hold the 39-24 advantage at the half. 
• Arkansas-Monticello ended the opening half shooting 50 percent overall, along with forcing nine DSU turnovers. 
  
   

• UAM continued to dominate in the second half over Delta State, as the Weevils saw its lead stay in double-digits throughout its entirety, claiming the victory at 72-56. 
• Jones had himself a big second half as well, scoring 13 total points, and shooting 5-for-8 from the field. 
  
   

• Arkansas-Monticello will face non-conference foe #14 Arkansas-Fort Smith next on Saturday, December 30 in Monticello with tip-off scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
