RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas - The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team was taken down on the road by Arkansas Tech University in a Great American Conference contest by a final score of 86-41.
The Blossoms (11-12, 8-11 GAC) struggled out of the gate against the #19 Golden Suns of ATU (19-4, 15-4 GAC), trailing Arkansas Tech 50-19 at the half in this conference match-up. The second half brought more of the same unfortunately for Arkansas-Monticello as UAM shot only 36 percent from the field in the half, compared to that of the Golden Suns shooting 63 percent from the floor.
UAM offensively was led by sophomore Lacy Alford with 10 total points on 3-of-5 shooting overall. Alford added three rebounds to her stat-line as well in the game.
Junior Treasure Evans generated a solid stat-line in the contest with eight points and pull down seven boards against the nationally ranked Golden Suns.
Final team statistics for the Blossoms included shooting 30 percent (14-for-47) from the field, 0 percent (0-for-9) on three-pointers, and 72 percent (13-for-18) on foul shots. ATU finished the game shooting 60 percent (32-for-53) overall, 56 percent on three's (9-for-16), and 68 percent (13-for-19) from the free throw line.
Arkansas-Monticello will return to the court next on Saturday, February 18 as the Blossoms will host GAC opponent Ouachita for Senior Day in the last home match-up of the season for UAM, with tip-off slated for 2:00 p.m.
