SHAWNEE, Oklahoma - The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team was defeated on the road by Great American Conference opponent Oklahoma Baptist by a final score of 87-75.
Arkansas-Monticello (11-14, 8-13 GAC) found itself down at the half against the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist (9-18, 6-15 GAC) 41-27. Despite generating a comeback in the second half, the Blossoms could not gain the lead over OBU after shooting 62 percent in the second half of play and was ultimately taken down 87-75.
Leading the Blossoms offensively on the evening was sophomore Ayesha Wahid with a season-high 24 points on 8-for-20 shooting from the field. Wahid also led the team in total rebounds with seven and added four assists, and four steals to her night as well.
Juniors Taylor Collins and Brittnee Broadway each finished the contest in double figures as Collins totaled 15 points and Broadway added 11 overall.
Final team statistics for UAM included shooting 51 percent (29-for-57) from the field, 75 percent (9-for-12) on three's, and 89 percent (8-for-9) on free throws. OBU finished the game shooting 48 percent (30-for-62) overall, 46 percent beyond the arc (11-for-24), and 84 percent (16-for-19) from the free throw line.
UAM will return to action this Saturday, February 25 in its final regular season game against GAC opponent Southern Nazarene on the road in Bethany, Oklahoma with tip-off set for 1 p.m.
