ALVA, Oklahoma — The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team was defeated twice Friday afternoon by Great American Conference opponent Northwestern Oklahoma State on the road by final scores of 2-0, and 11-0.
The opening match-up of the day for the Blossoms (14-8, 8-4 GAC) featured the Rangers of Northwestern (6-20, 4-10 GAC) throwing a no-hitter against UAM to shut down Arkansas-Monticello in a 2-0 victory. McKenzie Rice did reach base on a walk in the contest and was able to record her 10th stolen base on the year as well.
Kendra Coleman (9-2) suffered her second loss of the season throwing 6.0 total innings allowing seven hits, two runs and struck out four.
Game two of the day for the Blossoms saw NWOSU total nine runs in the bottom half of the first inning to take the early advantage in the match-up.
Korie Parker finished the contest going 2-for-2, with Ashton Currey and Rice contributing hits, and Jordan Kane and Kali Bolter each registering one walk a piece.
Maylie Bain, Mallory McWhorter, and Paisley Pratt each saw time in the circle for Arkansas-Monticello as well in the five inning game.
The Blossoms will return to action tomorrow, March 18, as UAM will face Northwestern Oklahoma State in a doubleheader in Alva to conclude the series with first pitch in game one set for 11 a.m.
