@UAMVOLLEYBALL FALLS IN FIRST GAC MATCH AT OUACHITA

Arkadelphia, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team was downed in its first Great American Conference contest of the season on the road at Ouachita by a final score of 3-1.

  • Final set scores from the match were 10-25, 25-21, 18-25, and 17-25 in favor of the Tigers. 
  • UAM falls to 4-4 (0-1 GAC) overall on the year.
  • Ouachita improves to 8-1 (1-0 GAC) this season.

  • OBU began the match on a 7-2 run against the Blossoms, and the Tigers went on to generate an 8-0 run and closed the set out with a 4-0 run for the 25-10 set victory.

  • Arkansas-Monticello started the second set on a hot streak of its own, creating an 8-2 run to begin the game.
  • The Blossoms continued to hold a lead throughout the set, and two straight kills from Maggie Pyles gave UAM the set win, 25-21 to even up the match at 1-1.

  • The Tigers took control of the third set with runs of 6-0 and 5-0 to hold a lead through most of the set, and ultimately took the game 25-18, despite UAM scoring four straight points to close the gap.

  • Ouachita continued to generate small runs in the fourth set of the match, and the Blossoms could only come as close as 15-11 after back-to-back kills from Kassidy Pomeroy, but OBU took the set 25-17, and the match 3-1.

  • Junior Shayna Daniels led Arkansas-Monticello on the night with 10 kills, 26 assists, and 10 total digs.
  • Macy Mitchell totaled 22 digs on the night to lead UAM, and provided two service aces also.
  • Katie Kuehl added 11 digs to aid the Blossoms defense as well.
  • Sophomore Maggie Pyles tallied eight kills and nine digs in the match.

  • UAM will next travel to Magnolia, Arkansas to compete in the Dr. Margaret Downing Invitational where the Blossoms with face Texas A&M-International and Mississippi College on Friday, September 15, and take on Grambling State on Saturday, September 16.
