GOOSBY'S TRIPLE-DOUBLE LEADS @UAMHOOPS OVER OBU

MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team took down GAC opponent Oklahoma Baptist Saturday afternoon, by a final score of 74-65.

  • UAM jumps to 12-7 (7-6 GAC) on the year. 
  • OBU drops to 8-11 (5-8 GAC) overall.
     
  • Cobe Goosby recorded his first career triple-double in a UAM uniform with 18 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds.

  • The opening half of this match-up saw each program trading baskets throughout most the the first period of play. Hill managed to give UAM an eight point advantage with just under nine minutes left with a layup in the paint. 
  • A Tyrin Jones fast break layup would end the half with the home squad leading the Bison, 33-27.
  • The Weevils went on to shoot 46 percent overall from the floor in the first half, along with totaling 11 assists as a team.

  • Arkansas-Monticello began the second half of play with a 9-0 run over OBU with the help from a made three pointer from Mawuenyega and a fast break dunk from Jackson to see the lead out to 42-27. 
  • The Weevils continued to ride the momentum, leading Oklahoma Baptist by double digits through most of the second period. OBU began chipping away at the UAM lead however, but only come as close as seven points down. 
  • UAM was able to finish of the Bison with a Jackson three, and made free throws down the stretch to take the conference win at 74-65.

  • UAM will next take on the Tigers of East Central, Thursday, February 1 as the Weevils will travel to Ada, Oklahoma with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m.
