ADA, Okla. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team defeated East Central University Thursday night on the road, by a final score of 89-79.

 

• The Weevils improve to 13-7 (8-6 GAC) this season. 
• East Central falls to 10-8 (8-6 GAC) on the year. 
   
• Cobe Goosby posted 12 points, and 11 rebounds for his fifth double-double this year. 
  
   

• Karim Mawuenyega —  31 points, 5 assists
  • *Tied his career-high in points 
• Tyrin Jones — 17 points, 7-for-8 FT
• Keelin Jackson — 12 points, 6 rebounds
• Cobe Goosby— 12 points, 11 rebounds
  
   

• Arkansas-Monticello jumped out to a 13-4 lead over the Tigers to start this contest, with scoring provided by both Mawuenyega and Goosby.
• The Weevils continued to control the pace of the opening half, ultimately taking a 41-31 advantage into the locker room at the half over ECU.  
• Karim was the top-scorer in the first half of play with 11 total points, and the Weevils as a team shot 58 percent overall. 
   

• UAM went on to dominate the second half against ECU, holding a double-digit lead throughout most of the period. The Weevils saw its' biggest lead of the night with just over three minutes remaining at 85-62 after two made Tyrin Jones free throws. 
• The Weevils were able to finish off the Tigers in Ada, 89-79 with Mawueneyga knocking down a game sealing three-pointer to push his point total out to 31 total, tying his career-high with UAM.
• Arkansas-Monticello improved upon its' shooting in the second half, totaling 60 percent from the floor, finishing 15-for-25. 
  
   

• The Weevils will next take on Southeastern Oklahoma State this Saturday, February 3 in Durant, Oklahoma with game time scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
