OUACHITA SPOILS @UAMWBB SENIOR DAY

MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team fell to the Tigers of Ouachita Baptist Saturday afternoon at home, by a final score of 75-72.

  • OBU improves to 13-12, (9-10 GAC) this year.

  • The Tigers jumped out to an early 9-2 lead over the Blossoms and continued on pacing this GAC match-up in the first quarter of play.
  • Arkansas-Monticello responded however, and after a made three-pointer from Charlynn Perry, saw UAM with the 14-13 advantage late in the period. 
  • The first quarter came to an end with the Blossoms up 21-20 on Ouachita as a Chari Swift layup gave UAM the lead once again.
  • Quarter number two featured a closely contested battle as well with OBU holding a 37-34 lead heading into the half, but with UAM gaining momentum towards the end on a Collins made three.

  • Ouachita Baptist went on to hold the advantage to start the second half, but the Blossoms once again staged a comeback with made shots from Broadway, and Perry that gave the home squad the 49-46 advantage. 
  • Arkansas-Monticello unfortunately lost the lead heading into the final quarter of play as the Tigers went up 55-51. 
  • The Blossoms completed yet another comeback with just over five minutes left in the game, after Whitney O'Dell knocked down a three to give UAM its' only lead of the fourth quarter at 63-62. 
  • OBU however was able to re-group and go on to claim the conference victory on the road, winning it 75-72 in the end.

  • The Blossoms will host the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas next on Tuesday, February 20, in Monticello inside Steelman Field House. This will be the final home game of the 2017-18 season for UAM with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
