MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team upset the number one ranked Statesmen of Delta State Tuesday afternoon at home, by a final score of 17-9.

  • 1st Inning: Borman got UAM on the board with a single to third base to put the score at 3-1 in DSU's favor. 
  • 2nd Inning: Weiss singled to right field to see Austin Brakebill come home to cut the lead down to 3-2. 
  • 2nd Inning: Brian Ray singled through the right side as well which tied up the game at 3-3. 
  • 2nd Inning: Sean Wagner reached on a fielder's choice as Weiss was able to cross the plate, taking a 4-3 UAM lead. 
  • 3rd Inning:  Weiss singled to right once again to knock in Johnson to reclaim the lead at 6-4 overall. 
  • 4th Inning: Johnson pushed the Weevils ahead once again with a RBI single to right field for the 7-6 advantage. 
  • 6th Inning: Ray was able to score on a wild pitch to give UAM the 8-6 lead. 
  • 6th Inning: Andres Rios continued the scoring with a RBI single to right field to see Wagner cross the plate. 
  • 6th Inning: Johnson powered UAM ahead with a three-run home run, taking a 12-6 lead over Delta State.
  • 6th Inning: Weiss added to that offensive power with a two-run home run of his own to give the home squad the 14-6 advantage. 
  • 7th Inning: Johnson singled to left field to score Borman, extending the lead out to 15-6. 
  • 8th Inning: Garrett Dodd sent a ball over the left center field wall for the solo home run to put the lead at 16-8. 
  • 8th Inning: Borman capped off the UAM scoring with a RBI single, and the Weevils ultimately knocked off number one ranked Delta State, 17-9.

  • The Weevils will next take on the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State in a three-game GAC series in Monticello, with game one to be played at 3:00 p.m. at Weevils Field on Friday, March 23.
