@WEEVILSBASEBALL COMPLETES SWEEP AGAINST SWOSU

MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team completed the sweep against Southwestern Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon, with a final score of 6-5.

  • The Weevils jump to 20-7 (15-3 GAC) this season. 
  • SWOSU drops to 16-14 (10-8 GAC) overall.

  • 2nd Inning: Wagner got UAM on the board first with a solo shot to left field for the 1-0 lead. 
  • 3rd Inning: Dodd grounded out to shortstop which saw Brakebill score from third to extend the lead to 2-0.
  • 7th Inning: Rowton was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to see a run cross the plate as UAM trailed SWOSU 5-3. 
  • 7th Inning: A passed ball then scored Rios from third base to put the score at 5-4.
  • 7th Inning: Brakebill grounded out to shortstop which saw Johnson come home to tie up the game at 5-5. 
  • 7th Inning: Weiss gave the Weevils the lead with a double down the right field line to score Rowton for the 6-5 advantage.
    • Moser capped off his 3.2 innings of relief, shutting down the Bulldogs in the top of the ninth for the victory.

  • The Weevils will next take on Union University in a non-conference contest next on Tuesday, March 27 on the road in Jackson, Tennessee with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
