UAM drops two at Southeastern OK Tournament

The Arkansas-Monticello Volleyball team dropped two matches on the day at the Southeastern OK Tournament in Durant, Oklahoma. After falling, 3-1, in match one against Colorado State-Pueblo, they lost match two in straight sets to Central Oklahoma.

DURANT, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Volleyball team dropped two matches on the day at the Southeastern Oklahoma Volleyball Tournament in Durant, Oklahoma. After falling, 3-1, in match one against Colorado State University-Pueblo, they lost match two in straight sets to University of Central Oklahoma.
 
Offensively, MarKayla Dickie combined for team-lead 14 kills while Halli Lambert had 11 on the two contests.
 
Katie Pearson continued to be the team's top distributor adding 39 more assists to her stat sheet.
 
On defense, Katelyn Richbourg who tallied 37 digs for the day led UAM.
 
Taylor Calhoun and Zealia Kleitz combined for 14 blocks in two games.
 
MATCH ONE
CSU-Pueblo took match one, 3-1. After falling in the first set, UAM bounced back to win set two, 25-22. However, Colorado State-Pueblo managed to win the next two sets en route to the victory.
 
In set two, UAM dropped the first four points, but scored six unanswered and never looked back en route to snagging the win.
 
Following set two, Arkansas-Monticello's offense struggled to get going dropping set three, 25-16, and set four, 25-17.
 
Lambert and Dickie combined for eight kills apiece in game one, while Pearson assisted on 26 kills.
 
Richbourg led the team in digs with 22, while Pearson added 18. Elizabeth Harshaw and lambert also had double-digit dig numbers with 15 and 12, respectively.
 
At the net, Dickie and Kleitz led the team in block assists with two apiece.
 
MATCH TWO
In match two, UAM really struggled to get things going losing in three sets, 25-15, 25-15 and 25-12.
 
Dickie was led the roster in kills with six and Kyndall Eddlemon along with Lambert posted four and three, respectively.
 
Pearson had 13 of UAM's 15 assists in the contest, while Richbourg and Hamilton totaled one apiece.
 
Defensively, Kleitz, Calhoun and Pearson combined for five assisted blocks at the net, while Pearson also added 11 digs and Richbourg managed 10.
 
UP NEXT
UAM will head to Arkadelphia, Arkansas for the HSU Tri-Match. UAM's first Great American Conference will be played first in the tournament as Arkansas-Monticello matches up with Henderson State first at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
