ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Volleyball team split its matches on the day at the Henderson State University Tri-Match Tournament in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. After losing to Henderson State University in its first contest, Arkansas at Monticello bounced back to beat Texas A&M University at Kingsville in straight sets.
 
UAM's first game was its first Great American Conference match of its 2019 campaign. Unfortunately, HSU defeated Arkansas at Monticello, 3-1.
 
The Weevils rallied wonderfully in the second contest with a straight set victory over Texas A&M Kingsville.
 
With the split, UAM is now 3-7 on the season and 0-1 in GAC play.
 
MATCH ONE
UAM played its first GAC game of the season and lost, 3-1, to Henderson State. After losing set one, Arkansas at Monticello bounced back to tie it up at one set apiece, however, the Reddies won the next two earning the victory.
 
UAM fell behind early in set one after Henderson State scored six straight to open the match. Arkansas at Monticello did tie it up late in the set at 19-19, but HSU pulled away to win it, 25-22.
 
Set two was all UAM early as it went up, 11-5. The Reddies battled back to tie it late 23-23. After running the score to 25-25, a kill from Halli Lambert and an attack error by HSU got UAM the second set victory, 27-25.
 
Henderson State would then win the next two sets by scores of, 25-15, and 25-21.
 
MarKayla Dickie was UAM's top attacker recording 20 kills, while Katie Pearson helped handle distribution with 46 assists. Jessica Mahan also tallied 6 assists in the match.
 
Defensively, Mahan led the team in digs with 24, while Leslie Polanco and Pearson recorded 19 and 15, respectively.
 
MATCH TWO
UAM was led by Polanco in match two as she registered a triple-double for the Boll Weevils.
 
Arkansas at Monticello rolled through the Javelinas in in straight sets, 25-23, 25-17 and 25-23.
 
Polanco was outstanding in all facets of the game tallying the triple-double with 12 kills, 16 assists and 12 digs.
 
Along with Polanco, Lambert was second in kills posting nine. She also had eight digs.
 
Josi Revielle was tops on the roster in assists with 17.
 
Other notable defensive statistics were UAM's six blocks. Taylor Calhoun and Zealia Kleitz registered three assisted blocks apiece, while Dickie and Kyndall Eddlemon totaled two apiece.

UAM will travel to Searcy, Arkansas for the Harding University Tournament Saturday. It will play two matches on the day starting with Rockhurst University at 9 a.m.
