MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team will travel to Arkadelphia, Arkansas on Friday and Saturday for a Great American Conference series matchup with Ouachita Baptist University. The Weevils will play a nine-inning game on Friday at 2 p.m. and then play a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. against the Tigers.

WEEVIL NOTES
UAM is coming off its first three conference games last weekend against Harding University in which it took two-of-three contests with the Bisons. Coming off that series, the Weevils won their first game, 12-4, their second, 5-1, and lost in the third, 5-0.
One main performance highlighted over that series was
Jordan Johnson who was 7-for-10 in the series with a pair of home runs, a double, four RBI and six runs scored. He also had an incredible 1.400 slugging percentage in that frame. With his performance over the weekend, he earned GAC Player of the Week honors from the conference office.
The Weevils as a whole, bumped their team average above .200 for the first time this season. They are led by Johnson who is hitting .343 (12-for-35) with four home runs, nine RBI and 10 runs scored.
Behind the UAM third baseman is
Cade Thompson who is batting .318 (7-for-22) with a team-high four doubles while scoring five runs. He is also has two stolen bases.
Second to Johnson in RBI are
Andrew Piraino and
Hudson Hopkins who have both tallied seven apiece.
On the bump, UAM has been fairly impressive with a team ERA of 3.07 (36 ER in 82.0 IP).
Matt Lundh and
Livan Cordova have been the team's most solid starters early on. Lundh has a 0.54 ERA (1 ER in 13.0 IP) with 18 strikeouts. He is yet to record a win yet in three starts, but has been outstanding, nonetheless.
Cordova carries a 2-1 record and a 2.33 ERA (5 ER in 15.0 IP) with 11 strikeouts and just four walks surrendered.
Out of the bullpen, the Weevils have been impressive as well.

Ojani Chacon have combined for a 2.09 ERA (6 ER in 20.1 IP) and one save.

TIGERS NOTES
OBU comes into this series having lost two straight, including its last conference meeting with Arkansas Tech University last weekend. In their last game on Tuesday, the Tigers defeated Ecclesia College, 11-2, in Springdale, Arkansas.
As a team, the Tigers are hitting .246 (70-for-285) with a .379 slugging percentage and a .316 on-base percentage.
Ouachita is led by Logan Huneycutt and Hunter Gautreaux on offense while Tyler Riebock has been the team's main run producer.
Huneycutt is batting .333 (13-for-39) with five doubles, a triple and is 2-for-2 in stolen bases.
Gautreaux is also hitting .333 (6-for-18) with two runs scored.
Riebock has been driving in the runs for the Tigers batting .290 (9-for-31) with three home runs and 13 RBI. He carries a 1.115 ops and a .710 slugging percentage.
On the hill, the Tigers have struggled carrying a 6.97 ERA (55 ER in 71.0 IP) and have given up 10 home runs in just nine games.
Brandon Matros is the team's top starter with a 4.41 ERA (8 ER in 16.1 IP) with 7 K's. Opponents are batting just .167 against him.

UAM will play a non-conference mid-week game in Memphis on Wednesday at Christian Brothers University. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
