WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team split its Great American Conference doubleheader at Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Saturday. After an extra-inning game one loss, 16-15, UAM responded with a game two victory over the Lady Bulldogs, 7-6.

GAME ONE: UAM 15 – SWOSU 16 (9 inn.)
The first contest went into extras, but it did not seem like that would be the result from the start. The Blossoms jumped out in front right away with seven runs in the first and second innings thanks to homers from
Hannah Holdbrook (1),
Caroline Tedder (5) and
Haley Godeaux (3).
In the second and third, the Lady Bulldogs responded with some runs of their own to tie the game thanks to some homers, 7-7.
Later,
Katelynn Stamper scored on a wild pitch, but SWOSU responded again to tie the game, 8-8 in the bottom of the fourth.
UAM did have another big push up its sleeve though. Holdbrook hit a three-run shot (2) in the fifth to put UAM ahead, 11-8, and later, the Blossoms added four more runs thanks to a sac fly and a three-RBI double from Holdbrook to put the Blossoms out in front, 15-9.
However, in the sixth, SWOSU exploded for six runs tying the game, 15-15. Neither team gained an edge in the next few innings, but in the bottom of the ninth, Breanna Simmons clubbed a walk-off home run to give the Lady Bulldogs the win, 16-15.
Alexis Pevehouse (L, 2-4) took the loss going 2.2 innings allowing one run on five hits and one walk.
Miranda Gover (W, 1-4) got the win for SWOSU going 3.1 innings allowing two hits and a walk while punching out one.
GAME TWO: UAM 7 – SOWSU 6
After going behind 1-0 in the bottom of the first, the Blossoms offense got rolling thereafter.
They added three runs in the top of the third on RBI singles from
Chelsea Anderson, Stamper and Holdbrook. They then added a run on a
Mackenzie Rodgers home run (1) to get ahead, 4-1.
The Blossoms then added three in the fifth taking a commanding 7-1 lead, however, SWOSU used the long ball to get back into it in the fifth cutting the deficit to two. They hit one more dinger in the bottom of the seventh, but UAM held out and got the win, 7-6.
Pevehouse (W, 3-4) got the win going the full seven innings allowing six runs on 11 hits while punching out four.
Bryanna Cryer (L, 1-5) took the loss for the Lady Bulldogs going 2.2 innings surrendering four runs on three hits and two walks.
