LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team falls in a road exhibition contest Monday 65-55 to Philander Smith College.
The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair with both teams trading buckets, but the Blossoms trailed 24-22 at the end of the quarter after the Panthers scored in the final seconds.
UAM struggled to protect the ball and put points on the board in the second quarter. The Blossoms only managed 10 points in the quarter, but still only trailed 38-32 at the break. Mackenzie Tillman kept the Blossoms in striking distance in the first half with eight of UAM's 32 points in the opening 20 minutes.
A strong third quarter effort helped UAM hold a 48-47 lead heading into the fourth.
The Blossoms were ultimately unable to hold on to that lead after a rough shooting effort in the fourth quarter. UAM finished with just seven points in the final quarter while surrendering 17 to the Panthers en route to the 65-55 loss.
Tillman finished as the leading scorer for the Blossoms tallying 12 points in the game.
